My name is Brit Gardner and I grew up and live in Dallas, Texas. I’m in my mid-twenties, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I have a beautiful wife, Sarah.
After graduating I worked as engineer at Caterpillar Inc. for 2 years. Caterpillar is absolutely a great company to work for, but during that time I became deeply interested in web development and web technologies. I was too young back in the late 90s when the first internet boom was happening to really grasp the situation. But this time around the stories of Google, Youtube, Myspace, Facebook etc. are all playing out right before my eyes. Who couldn’t be interested in that stuff?
Me being a technical junky, I dove into the technologies building these multi-billion dollar companies. AJAX was (still is?) all the rage when I first started developing for the web. Javascript DOM and DHTML was (still is?) the best thing since sliced bread and actionscript 3 / flex 2 / flash 9 was just a whisper on the net. Long story short, I quit my day job to start developing web applications full-time and never looked back.
Another passion of mine is gaming. I’ve been a gamer all my life, starting with the Nintendo Entertainment system I’ve owned just about every major console since. I’m also really excited about how the browser and the web can be used as a distribution channel in the gaming industry. Everything from casual “pop cap” games, to marketing-based gaming, to more in depth, story driven, persistent games on the flash platform.
So that’s a little perspective about myself and where I came from. Want to get in touch with me? Drop me a line at brit [at] figarointeractive.com.
